A message from Oakley

I wasn't too sure about this dog my Mom and Dad showed up with one day four months ago. She was spunky, silly, and always wanted to play. Well I grew to love her, her wiggly walk around the house and her insurmountable energy! We had a blast together. I taught her how to trust, that she didn't have to bark so much, and that lying in the sun was a great way to pass the time. She taught me to find my playful side again, to share my toys and that having her in the house was good for everyone! For those of you who are wondering, two dogs may be better than one, but not necessarily sleeping on the bed! Possaroo - thanks for being in my life and teaching an old dog new tricks! And remember - bark less, wag more!

Adoption Day

Well, I'm told today I will be adopted. I'm not too sure what that means but Missy says it's something that will be really great! That I will be going to a new home forever and that it's not too far away. I got lots of extra pets, hugs and kisses today! Here I am taking a rest before I get adopted. Missy & Sean tell me how lucky I am to be going to my new home and that I will get tons of love and pampering!

Here I am with my best buddy Oakely. He was the best friend a dog could have!

So I'm off on my new adventure with my new parents! I can't wait to see what life has in store for me! Thanks to all the people who helped me be a better dog and to the neighbors who helped me build trust. Also, a fond goodbye to Bella the neighbor dog - you were really fun to play with!

The Cabin Life

Here I am with one of the nieces! She always comes and sits by me and pets me! I love all the attention I get!

This last photo is me learning how to swim! It sure feels good in the water. I'm not a very good swimmer yet but I'm learning!

So Cute!

My foster Mom and Dad say I'm Possumablely the cutest dog around! Look at these photos of me being cute!

Caught!
I'm not supposed to be on the couch but I couldn't resist! Since I looked so cute Missy let me sleep there for a while!

Here I am snuggling with Louann at the cabin! And another one with Oakley and Sean! Oakley and I play so hard and go swimming we get really tired!

The North Shore

Lots going on lately...I graduated from Level I Dog Obedience. Now I get regular training at home to make sure I keep up with all the commands I learned.

Check out these great pics from our hike up at the North Shore. We hiked the Kadunce River, (we actually hiked in the river), hiked along the Superior Hiking Trail near the Poplar River(Lutsen area) and our final day was along the Beaver River near Beaver Bay. I loved to climb up on a big rock then jump into the river water! I was soaking wet!

I also stayed in my first hotel! I really liked that because I didn't have to sleep in my kennel! Sean & Missy let me sleep on the bed!! Vacations are a great thing aren't they?

I'm cute!!

I'm told all the time how cute I am! Here I am with my organic dog bone!

Playing with the kids!

Whew! I have been so busy the past month! I met one of the nieces and one of the nephews a couple of weeks ago! They were so fun!! We took a long walk and played frisbee in the back yard!

Bella...my neighbor

Here is Bella, she rocks. Bella is my neighbor! She comes over a lot to play! We run and chase eachother around the yard!

The Three Stooges... these guys are the best buddies!!

Shhhh. . . . .

Sometimes, when Sean and Missy are at work, Oakley comes and opens my kennel and we take ourselves outside to lay in the sun on the deck! It's so relaxing! We make sure we get back in the kennel before they come home! Good thing Oakley has an extra key to the back door and is tall enough to reach the lock! We hide the key in my kennel under my blankets. Don't tell anyone. We already got in trouble for using the computer.

More Hiking...and Playing of Course

Oakley and I got some good playtime this weekend in the backyard.

We also went hiking at Afton State Park again. Oakley was able to go hiking too. We saw some turkey & deer roaming around, but no chance for dinner. When we got back to the house, it was time to crash out.

Here I am with Oakley. I'm not sure if he likes this or not...

I'm not too sure if I like this either...but my ears were good and clean afterward.

Here is Oakley and me at Afton State Park. We both thought this would be a nice photo opportunity.

Obedience Class

Tonight I start my obedience class. I've already been practicing everyday at home. I can sit, heel and I am working really hard on stay! A sit - stay is hard when the squirrels are running all around me. They look like they would be fun to chase! I can't wait to learn tonight at obedience class and meet the dogs that will be there. Check back later for pictures.

Something New

Today I went to look around the pet store and pick out something new! We walked up and down every isle. There were lots of things that smelled good and toys that looked like a lot of fun! I chose to get a bone to chew on! I was very excited to go to the cashier because I know I get a treat when you buy something! I got to chew on my new bone on the way home! It was fun to chew on it!

BBQ's & Hiking

Yesterday (Saturday) was very busy, I played outside with Oakley & Bella(neighbor dog) at home. I went to a BBQ in St Paul and met a lot of new people. I was timid at first, but didn't seem to mind after a while. Of course, Oakley was there too. We played as usual.

Today (Sunday) was a trip out to Afton State Park. We hiked up and down the trails for a while, and I even stepped into the St Croix River to cool off. We made it home just in time before the rain fell. When I got home I was tired and almost fell asleep sitting up in the kitchen.

Up to Speed

Let me bring you up to speed on what my life has been like the last two weeks.

April 7th, 2007
I arrived at my new foster home in the late afternoon. I was recovering from being spayed. I was nervous to see my new foster home and meet Oakley, my Doberman mentor. He's much older than me and I think I have a lot to learn from him. I plan on teaching him some fun things too!
My first week I spent time getting used to my new surroundings. I also spent time bonding with my foster "mom & dad" and Oakley. It was hard because I still had stitches from being spayed so I couldn't run and play a way a puppy likes to.

Ten Days Later . . .
My stitches are out and I can run and play and be crazy in the back yard! The neighbor dog Bella even came over for playtime! We ran and ran and played so much! It was so fun! Oakley was playing too but he just waits for me to come to him. He has lots of fun yard toys we play with. We all end up panting and slobbering a lot! It' s so fun!

Possum the Dog

Hi! I'm Possum the Dog! I'm a six or seven month old Blue Doberman. I'm staying in my new foster home with Missy & Sean. I came here two weeks ago. They were nice enough to foster me until I get adopted into a really nice family! This is what I've been up to while I wait to be adopted. You can check back from time to time to read about what I've been learning and all the fun stuff I get to do!

My Stats:
Female
Blue Doberman with natural ears and cropped tail
Spayed
All shots are up to date
House broken and crate trained
I get along well with other dogs (read more about my mentor Oakley throughout this Blog)
I currently reside in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
